Year End Literacy Assessment Data

Over the past two school years we have focused on supporting the emergent needs for our students in literacy. The classroom teachers and resource team have help identified areas that needed added support and put time and resources into reading development.  Reflecting on the progress from last year to this current year we have seen a decrease in the number of students who are emerging in Language Arts.  After targeted intervention last year at the end of the year we had 8.54% of students Emerging in Language Arts, we knew our goal of reaching those kids was working but required more time and attention.  This year we continued with the same focus, and it has been wonderful to see the successes within our students.  To end the 2024-2025 school year with 2.21% of students emerging in Language Arts, a 6.33% decrease, is a major accomplishment for both our school team and the hard work put in by the students.

As we celebrate these successes we have also looked and reflected on continued areas that we can grow and improve.  Just as the data shows us improvement in students emerging in Language Arts, it also shows increase in those who are Developing.  While the movement from Emerging to Developing is good, next year we will continue to develop ways in which as a whole school team we can support and grow into more Proficiency.  Using thoughtful and meaningful interventions to help guide us, we have prepared Anchor Books by Adrienne Gear that focus on Reading and Writing Strategies which have been organized to be used by all grade levels to support us in this goal next year.  Using this literacy tool with others we will also expand to be thoughtful in our language based teaching all curricular areas.
